Quirk
Raven - Reyna's quirk is quite versatile. It is a composite quirk of both of her parents quirks which are also composite quirks themselves, thus allowing it to have so many elements to it.
Firstly it gives the user heightened intelligence and problem solving skills, giving her a massive tactical advantage, as well as allowing her to evaluate situations quickly and make fast but accurate decisions to resolve situations. However she is unable to switch this element off, thus leaving her prone to stress induced insomnia as she is unable to simply switch off.
Secondly it allows her to produce feathers from the follicles on her skin which can be coated in a resin produced in her oil gland to harden and sharpen the feathers in order to mimic knives. Overuse can lead to keratin and mineral deficiencies.
And lastly Reyna has a set of black wings which fold out from hollows in her shoulderblades. While she can unfurl them at any point she can only fly with them for a total of one hour in a twelve hour period, otherwise her wing muscles will start to cramp and become strained which can lead to pulled or torn musclear depending on how much she overused it.
Other drawbacks include migraines, bruising/bleeding and extreme fatigue when overused.
Appearance
Reyna is built like a ballet dancer; small, slim and endowed with elegant lines and a subtle musculature. She has deep red eyes which contrasts strongly with her moon white skin and thick, curly black hair. It is also noted that she tends to wear her hair in a bun and is rarely seen wearing it down.
Her main hero suit is based strongly off of the Odile costume from the ballet swan lake, it exposes most of her torso and her entire back for better use of the physical elements of her quirk and as a result is barely legal. She also has a winter suit, comprising of a full body suit with small angular gashes down the shoulders and arms so she can still use her quirk though it is less effective than her main suit.
In her spare time she regularly opts to wear gothic clothing, even most of her day to day clothing is goth inspired and her love for the genre as a whole is no secret.
Personality
Reyna is softly spoken with a distinctly feminine voice, in her first year she often came across as being snobbish due to the way she carried herself and her habit of clinging to her best friend Ci and rarely talking to others. She was quite withdrawn most of the time, but was, and still is, very close with the friends that she made, although she struggles to express how she feels and how much she cares about them.
back then she outwardly seemed cold, blunt and uncaring but that couldn't be further from the truth. She cares very intensely about others and often tried to help her classmates, peers and underclassmen from the sidelines in her school days. And while she opened up more in her second year, only those who befriend her were able to openly see the full extent of her soft side.
In her second year she became more determined and open with her classmates. Though she still kept her air of quiet grace and dignity for the most part, she grew more confident and was able to bloom and show her best attributes to her friends and classmates. In fact she has become so comfortable with speaking to others that she actually prefers to work in a team rather than on her own, although she is perfectly capable.
She carried this new side of herself into her career and is using it to excel. While she still comes off as cautious and collected at first she has become friendlier and more approachable than before and although she still has issues expressing herself when it comes to personal feelings and emotions, she is generally comfortable expressing herself in workplace settings and scenarios.
Background
Reyna's father, Seamus Cadfan, originates from the Republic of Ireland and her Mother, Valentina Cadfan, originates from Spain. The two of them were ballet dancers and met when they were employed by a ballet company to be the principal dancers.
Thus, it was only natural that when the two married and Reyna was born, that she would be trained in ballet too. From as young as four her teachers described her as being a ballet prodigy and the manifestation of an avian quirk only enhanced her natural talent and elegance.
Excited by her potential, her parents attempted to push her to become a ballerina, in the hopes that she would one day surpass them and become known as a "prima ballerina assoluta." And in the end proved to be the only thing about Reyna that they actually cared about. However, Reyna had other plans. While she enjoyed dancing, she was a massive hero nerd and wanted very desperately to be one.
When she was an infant and her parents would spend whole seasons away on tour she would often be placed in the care of her Grandmother in Spain, and as it would turn out, the only family member who truly cares for Reyna. Her Grandmother encouraged little Reyna to follow her dreams. She still has a close bond with her Grandmother to this day and makes a point of investing in a monthly international call to Spain to chat with her.
When school started Reyna was unable to see her Grandmother and was placed in the care of a nanny to cover her basic needs until she was deemed old enough to fend for herself during her parents long absences. And, despite her daily dance classes that her parents had demanded that she take, she still clung to her own dream of becoming a hero. Secretly, she trained with her quirk while her parents were away from home and joined various martial arts and combat based clubs in her school and neighbourhood to prepare herself.
When she was fourteen, she eventually confessed to her parents that she wished to pursue a career in heroism, reluctantly, they agreed to let her apply to Yuuei alone. Promising that if she passed then they would sign the papers for her to go, and that if she failed she would continue on her path to become a world class ballerina. They did this in the hopes that she would not be successful or that the thought of going to school in a completely foreign country combined with the intimidating entrance statistics would scare her into quitting. However, Reyna's dedication over the years paid off and, to her parents shock, she was accepted into Yuuei's hero course. Delighted, Reyna threw herself into learning Japanese ready for her attendance.
Though she struggled to connect with others; her first year went well and she easily excelled in her work. Elated by her success, she decided to visit home before the start of her second year, hoping that her success would encourage her parents to reconsider their standpoint and support her.
She couldn't have been more wrong. Her parents realised that if she continued to improve that Reyna would get her wish and wouldn't bend to their will. So, the morning that Reyna was due to catch her flight back to Japan, her parents put Reyna under house arrest, locking her in her room hoping that if she were to miss the first few days the school would phone, where they could tell the school that she had decided to drop out, forcing her to take the path that they had chosen for her. They had gone back on their word and betrayed her.
Thankfully Reyna is a resourceful girl and using her quirk, was able to to figure out how pick the locks to escape her home, book a new flight using her mother's credit card to do so as a final insult and get a bus to the airport. She rang the school and told them that she had missed the initial flight due to a connection mix up on the previous day and that she was coming on the next available flight. She did miss the first few days of school, but she was not expelled. She also never disclosed what had really happened with her parents. However it did change her. From that moment she realised that it was all down to her to make her dream a reality.
So she went back into her second year with a new drive; she opened up to her class, got more involved in group activities and began striving more to be noticed by potential employers, aiming to grow even further, something which she would succeed in doing.
Over those next two years Reyna bonded strongly with several of her classmates as well as some students in the neighbouring classes and with this newfound support she was able to reveal more of her inner self and drastically improve her true talents as a support hero and team player.
She also bonded strongly with one of her teachers, Ishida-sensei, and as he was still an active hero who specialized in team rescue jobs Reyna decided that she wanted to learn more from him as her boss and mentor. So she bombarded him with application forms until he finally agreed to take her on as his sidekick when she graduated.
During her time at his agency she worked hard to improve her skills and expand her social network to aid her in her work, she had also been saving money where possible so that she could open up her own agency once she felt confident that she had gained enough experience to make it as a hero in her own right.
Three years later and she had finally built herself and her savings up enough to make the jump and is striking out on her own. She has rented an office space in the business district of Musutafu and registered that as the location of her agency and has joined the official hero register.
